How much of the company will you own after the round?

Your shareholding after an investment round, from the pre-money valuation, the amount raised and any new option pool.

How it works it out

The post-money valuation is the pre-money valuation plus the money raised. The new investors own the money raised as a share of the post-money valuation. An option pool created in the round comes out of the remaining shares.

What it cannot tell you

Preference shares, anti-dilution terms or convertible loans that convert in the round. Each of those changes what your shares are worth on a sale.

Finance is subject to status and to the lender’s terms. A personal guarantee makes you liable for the company’s debt if it does not repay, and it can be enforced against your own assets, including your home. Nothing here is a personal recommendation.
